Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 6, 2026
These terms apply when you use the Minnesota Toy Library website, become a member, or borrow toys from our collection. By becoming a member or borrowing from us, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't borrow — but you're always welcome to browse the site.
Who we are
The Minnesota Toy Library is a nonprofit toy lending library serving families in the Twin Cities. We lend toys to member families from our branch locations. Questions about these terms can go to mntoylibrary@gmail.com.
Membership
Membership is per family and runs for twelve months from the date it is paid or renewed. Membership fees support the collection and the cost of running the library. If cost is a barrier for your family, ask us about a scholarship — we would rather you borrow than not.
You are responsible for keeping your contact details current so we can reach you about items you have borrowed. Membership is not transferable to another family.
Borrowing
Members may borrow toys subject to the limits and loan period in effect at the time, which we publish at our branches and may adjust as the collection changes. Please return items on time so other families can enjoy them. We may pause borrowing privileges while items are significantly overdue.
Care, damage, and lost items
Toys are shared. Please clean items before returning them and keep all pieces together. Ordinary wear is expected and we will never charge you for it.
If an item is lost, or damaged beyond ordinary wear, please tell us. We may ask for a reasonable replacement cost. Talk to us if that creates a hardship — we would rather work something out than lose a member family over a broken toy.
Safety, recalls, and supervision
We inspect and clean toys between loans and check them against published recall notices, but you know your child best. Please check each item yourself for suitability and condition before use, follow any age guidance on the toy, and supervise your child while they play.
Assumption of risk
Play involves risk. By borrowing from the Minnesota Toy Library, you accept responsibility for how borrowed items are used by your family, and you agree that the Minnesota Toy Library, its staff, and its volunteers are not liable for injury or damage arising from their use, except where such a limitation is not permitted by law.
Volunteering and donations
Donated toys become the property of the Minnesota Toy Library, and we decide whether an item can join the collection based on its condition, completeness, and safety. Items we cannot use are passed on or responsibly recycled. Volunteers participate at their own initiative and may be asked to follow additional guidelines on site.
Using this website
Please don't attempt to disrupt the site, access accounts that aren't yours, or scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others. Site content and branding belong to the Minnesota Toy Library. Links to other organizations are provided for convenience; we aren't responsible for their content.
Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in details private. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. We may suspend an account that is being used in a way that harms other members or the collection.
Changes
We may update these terms as the library changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision, and continued use of the site or the collection after a change means the updated terms apply.
